Concentrated Solar Power Heat Exchanger
Problem
A client developing a Concentrated Solar Power project in Spain needed to build project infrastructure as cost-effectively as possible while also ensuring maximum efficiency and in-service uptime and reliability.
Applied solution
EMbaffle provided an enhanced heat transfer solution for the Thermal Energy Storage System (TESS) involving supply of three EMbaffle® units instead of six conventional heat exchangers.
Although individually larger than the alternative designed conventional heat exchanger units, the use of EMbaffle® heat exchangers dramatically reduced loadings, support structures and foundations, as well as piping, valves and associated insulation and heat tracing systems. In addition, the smaller volumes of the more efficient EMbaffle® heat exchangers offer further cost savings from the use of less heat transfer fluid and molten salt.
Result
Considerable cost savings from heat exchangers and also supporting piping and infrastructure.
